HOW IT STARTED: AMPERS&
And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:40
The ampersand is a logogram (&) meaning 'and'. For this endeavour it serves as a humble reminder that we aren't meant to navigate the world alone and that we are a collective. We build one another up and not tear down. We help the lost and needy because it's just what Jesus would do and calls us to do.
AMPERS& was birthed from a place of wanting to be hands on with God's children and not lazily throw my donations to an organization, though I still believe those are good things and will do from time to time. I just wanted AMPERS& to be intentional. It was a stirring inside me to use my business to tend to the destitute. I was on my bed, August 2018 and I felt the Lord tell me to cater to homeless women by giving them hygenic products. This was my first solo missions trip, because a mission can start wherever your feet are planted. I took the money I had made from selling the earrings to buy sanitary napkins, tampons, etc. At the time, I was attending UCF and on campus they had a pantry where you could get free food and hygenic supplies. I took whatever they had and added it to my stash. I didn't have a car at the time. I strapped on my white hightop converse, shaking in my skin walking to the bus stop to take a 1 hour ride to Lake Eola. I got there and immediately felt the Presence of Jesus. The girl, me, who was afraid to pray in front of people was kneeling at the feet of the homeless calling down the fire of God. I will never forget what God did to me and the bravery He cemented in my bones. It was as if I was activated to do what I was made to do all along.
AMPERS& started out with it's donations being $1 per sale. However, April 2020 I felt the pressing for it to be all proceeds.
You can follow the story and updates through my Instagram and story highlights. I won't promise to always post my endeavours because I don't want this to turn into a show. However, I do want you to know how your giving is helping in people. Your giving is sowing seeds in the Kingdom and I am grateful that you would partner with me in such a way!
